Agricultural production in Aragón, 1850-1935

Abstract:
This paper summarizes the evolution of agriculture in Aragón, distinguishing between two periods separated by the agricultural depression which occurred in the late nineteenth century that seriously affected agriculture in Aragon. Emphasis is placed on the characteristics of the agrarian expansion both in dry and irrigated land throughout the second period, i.e. the first third of the twentieth century. Furthermore, special attention is laid to the important geographical differences observed in agricultural growth and how this was affected by the technological change, together with the evolution of labor and land productivity. |
